Velvet Elder is the moniker for my electronic music project. I began working on the songs for what would become the project’s debut release, Other Places, in 2020 during the first waves of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The EP's six tracks filter inner and outer destinations through soft-focused synths and dreamy melodies that recall vintage pop and dance music. Lyrically, the tracks explore anxiety about the future, nostalgia for the past, and attempts to stay present.

To capture the sonic palette visually, I turned to ethereal photography that depicted liminal spaces, printed ephemera from bygone literature, and collages of early experiments in computer graphics.
